Upload Your Audio

If you use a service such as skydrive, google drive, or dropbox, you can upload the audio file that you want proof listened there, and then get a hyperlink to it after you set it as sharable/public. You will then paste the shared hyperlink in the announcement message to the PL forum (see section on "announce your recording...")  


note, if you have a gmail account, then you automatically have a google drive (cloud drive that allows publicly shared links to files of your choice).

Announce your recording and ask for PL

Write a post on
http://groups.google.com/group/audtip_pl/topics?hl=en_US
to announce your recording and ask for a proof listener.

You can also simply send the message to the group by email to audtip_pl@googlegroups.com, but do no e-mail the actual recording.

The subject of the post: PL Request for [put your file's name here]
 

The body of your post:(Cut and paste version below)
  1. The following text, tuning it for specific needs if necessary:
    --This Sutta is ready to be proof listened (PL).
    --You can reply to this thread with PL comments. If you need some time, you can reply to this thread to announce you intend to PL within (some) number of days. More than one person may PL a single track. For new proof listeners (PL), see this guide  Audio Tipitaka Guide for Proof-listeners
    -- pl.audtip.org contains of all the suttas that are in current need of PL (they are pinned to the top of the message board)
  2. A hyperlink to your audio file. One easy way to get the hyperlink is right mouse button clicking on the "download" link for your uploaded file on   https://sites.google.com/a/audtip.org/work-in-progress-public/files-for-work-in-progress-audio-suttas selecting "save link location", then pasting it in your message.
  3. Approximate length of recording so proof listener can gauge the size of the job. Example: "recording length is about 4 min.
  4. language. example "spoken in Pali", "read in English", "chanted Pali"
  5. A hyperlink to sutta text you used. If you read from a book, then title of book and page number.
  6. Optional: Explain your recording setup, process, things learned, tricks, etc. This is helpful for future potential readers to find out what brand of equipment and software to produce the audio recording that you did. For example of describing recording setup, see frank_k/recording-setup

Having proof-listened, the PL will respond to the thread of your post, and let you know if revisions are necessary or if it "passed" and is ready for release.

How to monitor progress on your sutta

receive email notification on thread posts

If you find your message in the forum that you just posted on audtip pl discussion forum
Select the first message on your thread to read. Near the top of the thread on the highlighted title, there should be an option to show "options". Selection "options", it should open up a few options, one of them says "send email updates to me". Select it.

If you are subscribed to the audtip_pl@googlegroups.com list, and have your preferences set to receive email, then you don't need to do the above.

If you lose track of your discussion thread link

You can manually view the threads on the audtip pl discussion forum.
When all else fails, just go to the home page of wip.audtip.org and there will be links there to get to your uploaded file and message thread.
